Foliage stays somewhat low and compact (18"), but the tall, 6 ft flowering stems radiate like a sea urchin in summer and hold through the fall, turning bright pink, almost purple, when backlit in the late sun. Full sun in well drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. Frost hardy in USDA zone 6.
