One of the best of the snake-bark maples, still all too uncommon in horticulture. Vase shaped to about 30ft or so eventually with the most outstanding feature being the coral winter twigs and warm orange-gold bark on older wood. Excellent for winter interest, plant such creatures as golden Choisya or black mondo grass nearby. Well drained evenly moist soil, afternoon shade has suited them in our climate. USDA Zone 6.
