It's the flowers, glowing in gold tinged with orange on 30" spikes, that make this a must have perennial, blooming from early summer into August. Grassy foliage forms clumps to 3 ft wide in time, semi-deciduous depending on winter cold. A South African native does well in a hot dry spot in the garden, but also appreciates occasional summer water. Invite the hummingbirds in with this striking plant. Frost hardy in USDA zone 6.
