A large distinctive evergreen grass as it builds a trunk of dead roots which can raise the living tussock to 3ft above ground giving the whole plant a height of 5ft. Leaves are bright green with attractive bronze tones and 24" long, deeply grooved and strongly keeled. Will grow in wet ground as in its native habitat in New Zealand. Blooms mid spring thru midsummer. Sun to part shade, cold hardy to USDA zone 7.
