The Story
Chives have cool gray green foliage and late spring spherical purple flowers. Harvest tubular leaves and use fresh or freeze for seasoning vinegar, salads or savory dishes. Masses of small bulbs increase by division in slowly spreading clumps. Flowers are good forage for butterflies and bees. Sun loving. 12" tall at maturity. Average water and decent drainage. Said to be deer resistant. USDA zone 6.
