The Story

Cute and fuzzy, yet deceptively dangerous, this Texas native gets it's name from the latin for "covered with small pins", which refers to the many evenly dispersed orange glochids on its pads. Upright, spreading growth to 3' tall x 4' wide. Apricot-vermillion flowers emerge in late spring to early summer and are numerous. For full sun and well draining soil, even tolerating winter wet in the sharpest draining soils. Hardy USDA zone 7.
