A Cistus Introduction: Our collection from central Arizona below the Mogollon Rim several years ago where ranch land meets rocks, this makes a small succulent shrub of cholla-like stems but only about 1/8" wide and adorned with golden spines. A fairly long flowering period of yellow flowers followed by small red fruit, often lasting through much of the year. The whole plant grows to only about 18" in height. Easy to grow in a container. For bright, well drained garden conditions (just watch out for the winter sog). Zone 5.
