Macleania insignis

Another curious caudex forming tropical blueberry relative. This native to the cloud forests of the eastern Central American Sierra has leathery evergreen leaves and brilliant red in new growth and 2 inch coral tubular flowers borne at the leaf axils along trailing stems. The trailing form lends itself to a hanging basket or trellis training. Likes cool well drained soil with regular water and ample humidity sun to afternoon shade and frost free conditions.
