A diminutive species, to under 3-4 ft in five years, with arching branches and nearly round, spring-green leaves up to 1" across. The flowers, in scale, are small and creamy white with small black berries late season. At home in woodland gardens but also great in sun and in containers with regular moisture. Nice looking companion with larger or finer leaf textures. Frost hardy to 10F, USDA zone 8; possibly upper USDA zone 7.
