The Story
Though a bit of a mystery, this appeared in the collection of plantsman Nevin Smith several years ago. He gave us some nice plants that seemed particularly vigorous, and they remained so - much more vigorous than the species. We suspect they might be natural hybrids with V. planipetala... Fairly quickly clumping to 3 ft or so with golden-yellow flowers and light green leaves with blue undersides. Great for dry shade. Plant in part sun to shade and don't overwater in summer as it is a western native. Zone 7.
