Discovered in 1897 by Sarah Lyman and eventually entering the trade under her name, this sweet little cultivar of a native California fern, has leaves more divided than the species and a more graceful habit. Perfect in shade to part shade garden where plants emerge in the fall from summer dormancy and provide green color and texture through spring. They thrive in coastal conditions and can remain evergreen there. Well-drained soil is best, moist in the growing season and dry in summer. Grows 12 to 15" tall and spreads slowly forming small colonies. Frost hardy in USDA zone 8.
