Native to western coastal chaparral from Oregon to Baja CA, the Knobcone Pine is a fast growing upright tree eventually 20-40 feet tall, often with multiple trunks. Attractive tight cones are borne on trunks from a young age that require heat, usually from fire, to open. Sun to light shade well drained soil. Extremely drought adapted when established. USDA zone 7.
