This hybrid Jerusalem sage, a cross between P. fruticosa and P. russeliana from England's Hillier Nursery, should be better known. A small shrub, to 3 ft tall and wide, these have arrow-shape, felted leaves, a rich, olive-like green on top and silver underneath. The cluster of yellow spring flowers make a striking contrast with the foliage and brighten any day. Easy in the garden in sun to part shade, well-drained soil, and little summer water once established for the Mediterranean creatures. Frost hardy to 8F, upper USDA zone 7 and possibly into colder temperatures.
