The Story
A lovely and lush looking evergreen groundcover for shade, this native to Japan forms dense glossy mats 8-10in. tall and spreading 18 to 24 inches; more over time. Good looking all year; springtime flowers are white on short stalks. Well suited to urban environments, shady courtyards and under established trees. Tolerates periods of drought when established but best with water a few times a month in summer. Light to deep shade with at least decent drainage. Not picky. Evergreen in USDA zone 7, root hardy in zone 4.
