From our friend Luen Miller, this cheery monkey flower blooms from spring into summer with large apricot orange flowers with long, frilly lower petals that mature to intense orange. Foliage is dense, hard and glossy against burgundy stems, growth habit is mostly erect but very compact. Able to withstand summer drought, it will happily go dormant until fall rains begin. Also tolerant of reasonable garden water if soil is well drained and light is bright, flowering year-round in mid USDA zone 8 or above, perennial into USDA zone 7. A surprisingly tough, resilient and forgiving plant.
