The Story
This cold hardy introduction by Walters Gardens has dark green leaves showing deep red undertones; in late summer to early fall, deep red flower stems open to bright pink flowers. A dwarf to 1 and a half to 2 feet in Western Michigan; we suspect it will be a rounded shrub to 6 feet or more where it does not die back to the ground every winter. Blooming on new growth means flowers will not be lost to pruning when needed. Best in full sun with regular summer water. USDA zone 6. PPAF
