Butter-yellow fruit opens to yellow seeds on this attractive evergreen shrub to small tree. Clusters of pale yellow flowers precede, of course. This native of western China reaches 6-8ft tall, the long, bright green leaves on branches with dark gray, smooth bark are lovely in their own right and provide the perfect background. Full sun to light shade in well-drained soil with average summer moisture. Frost hardy to 0F, USDA zone 7.
