A wonderful little iris relative from Kenya to South Africa. Stiff, upright leaves are 2ft long and less than an inch wide, streaked with cream. Iris-like flowers are white with blue centers, with yellow-to-orange markings on the outer tepals. Frost hardy into USDA zone 8 - especially if the creeping rhizomes are mulched and kept a little drier in winter - but may need protection in the roughest of PNW winters. Flowering stems are perennial, so don't cut back!
