The Story
This hardy bulbous Amaryllis relative from South Africa features stalked leaves rising to 3' from large bulbs, tightly clasped at the base, appearing as a trunk. In summer through fall, very large, fragrant, trumpet shaped light pink flowers rise from the foliage, adding to that tropical look. Best in light shade, tolerant of most soil, with moderate water, though less during dormancy. Hardy to 10F or lower, USDA zone 8.
