Native to Europe and western North America, this tough fern has shiny, evergreen foliage reaching to about 18” x 2 ft wide. Best in part to full shade in rich soil with average moisture. Somewhat drought tolerant once established. Spreads by creeping rhizomes that can be divided in the spring. Frost hardy in USDA zone 5.
